Exploring Port

Exploring Port

Wednesday Wine Workshops
February 22nd at 7pm

Join Mike Abbate, our wine manager, and Arik from Charles River Wine as we explore the grapes, styles and history of port wine in this intimate workshop. If you are unfamiliar with port, you’ll be pleasantly surprised by how tasty it is and how many options there are to explore. We’ll be tasting several styles of Kopke Port while we learn about its origins.

Port wine (also known as Vinho do Porto, is a Portuguese fortified wine produced exclusively in the Douro Valley in the northern provinces of Portugal. It is typically a sweet, red wine, often served as a dessert wine, though it also comes in dry, semi-dry, and white varieties. Fortified wines in the style of port are also produced outside Portugal, most notably in Australia, France, South Africa, Canada, India, Argentina, and the United States. Under European Union Protected Designation of Origin guidelines, only the product from Portugal may be labelled as port or Porto.

This workshop is free but space is limited and not open to groups. If your group would like to do an event with us, please contact Trina Lorigan, events manager at Pemberton Farms.
