Garden Center Workshops 2019

Starting your own plants from seed is fun, easy, and a great way to stretch your garden budget. Kick off the 2019 growing season with our in depth seed starting demonstration. Learn how to start annual flowers, herbs, and vegetables, the best way to care for your seeds as they grow, and many more tips and techniques for successful growing.

On The Edge Knife Sharpening

First Sunday of every month, 11AM to 2PM

Pemberton Farms Marketplace has partnered with On the Edge Knife Sharpening to bring the convenience of knife and tool sharpening to our parking lot on the first Sunday of every month.

On the Edge specializes in hand sharpening kitchen knives (serrated and straight edge, as well as Japanese knives). They also hand sharpen scissors, including dog grooming shears, utility scissors , garden tools, hunting knives and other pet grooming tools – sheep shears and other edges. Their tools include a whet stone, ceramics and different types of polishing stones.

The Bloomers: Fuzzy White and Washed Bloomy Rind Cheeses

This is an event that will give you an opportunity to taste lots of different bloomy rind cheeses, including the stinkers ~ aka washed rind cheeses.  I will explain the history of these cheeses, how they are made and why they are, in my opinion, special.  We will sample cheeses made in France, Italy and the US, and perhaps even Spain.  There will be a variety of milks, but it may be a difficult class for those with really bad sensitivity to cow milk cheeses, or those that do not eat animal rennet.

I will include some pairings and together we will explore the language of cheese, how to know what you like and why.  It's gonna be fun AND delicious!  I'll also teach you how to care for your cheese so that your fridge doesn't smell like one of the stinkers!

I have had the pleasure of nurturing cheese friends from "I hate blue cheese" to "I love blue cheese"!  While I love a visit from everyone, it is moments like this that I find incredibly rewarding.

This class may be a little overwhelming for those new to blue.  If you would like an opportunity to try a variety of blue cheeses along with some delicious things to eat with them, this is a great opportunity!  We will sample cheeses from all over the globe!  I will plan palette cleansers to help you manage the assertive nature of these beautiful cheeses.

Class includes notes, tasting pages and snacks.
